Development of a geothermal database and resource assessment of MT. Natib geothermal prospect, Philippines

Abstract

A geothermal database mainly storing information gathered from geothermal wells was created using Microsoft ACCESS. To make the database user friendly, a menu-driven navigation was included in the design. It is envisioned that the database will be expanded in the future to include other information derived from geothermal exploration, development and exploitation. Review and analyses of existing exploration data from Mt. Natib geothermal prospect reveals that it has very low potential for electricity generation. According to Monte Carlo volumetric assessment, the field can only supply the steam requirement of 10 to 15 MWe power plant for twenty years. However, with the high temperature (>260°C) intercepted by the exploratory wells, the area warrants additional exploration to possibly identify areas of higher permeabilities.
