Útdráttur: Energy bearing fresh water is used to supply direct use applications with thermal energy. The water can be cascaded from process to process or industry to industry, whereby at each stage, some energy is extracted from the water. Four different sources of energy and three scenarios were used to demonstrate the effect of cascading of energy. The result was a 60% approximate reduction in the amount of water required to carry the energy.
