dc.description.abstract This study explores the use of electrical controls and a protection system in a geothermal power plant for smooth and reliable operation of the plant. Geothermal power is a renewable energy and is also used as a baseload for the supply of electricity in the grid. To fulfil this goal, great measures must be taken in the selection of electrical protection equipment for the different electrical components, such as the transformer and the generator, as described in the report. A geothermal power plant must also be furnished with a proper control system for controlling different components of the plant such as the turbine, the generator, the transformer, the excitation system and other related accessories so that when some abnormal condition occurs in the system, proper action can be taken. is
